Proper disposal of animal carcasses is important to prevent disease transmission and to protect air and water quality. Carcasses from domestic animals must be disposed of as soon as possible after death, usually within 48 to 72 hours.
As of October 26, 2009 all renderers in the U.S. must be in compliance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Feed Ban Enhancement rule. More information on the regulations can be found on the Board rendering page.
